The Ombudsman Paid an Unannounced Visit to Stepanakert Boarding School

On December 20, the Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan paid an undisclosed monitoring visit to Stepanakert Child Care and Protection N 1 Boarding School. 

The ombudsman got acquainted with the situation of the children’s rights protection, general conditions of detention, the peculiarities of their daily life and services. During the visit, he interacted with the children in a direct environment, had private conversations with both the administration and some of the children.

The Ombudsman paid special attention to the issues of children’s cleanliness and health, realization of the right to education, quality of psychological work, attitude towards children. He emphasized that due to family separation, children are already in a very vulnerable position, therefore, it is necessary to provide them with high quality social and psychological services.

Issues recorded during the visit were discussed with the head of the institution.

Ombudsman A. Beglaryan will, within his powers, provide assistance in resolving the issues identified, including by cooperating with all relevant bodies.
